Preparing for Tree Planting at Tyler Arboretum in Media PA
A close look at the auger work that went into preparing 400 planting holes at Tyler Arboretum.
Our crew at One Thousand Hands Horticulture helped prepare for a reforestation project at Tyler Arboretum in Media, Pennsylvania. We drilled 400 planting holes across two meadow areas, providing the excavation work needed for the arboretum’s upcoming tree planting.
400 holes across two meadow areas
The work took us into two meadow areas: one near a creek and another at a higher elevation. Pink flags mark locations throughout the photographed work area, with mature woodland around the clearing.
The wider view shows the flagged work area, while the closer view follows the tracked machine between planting locations.
The equipment behind the work
We used a Ditch Witch SK800 tracked machine fitted with a 22-inch auger bit. The photos show the auger at work, with loosened soil collecting around the openings as our crew progressed through the flagged area. This was the preparation stage of the arboretum’s larger reforestation effort.
